These guys have been hanging around in our neighborhood all winter. This morning we walked out to find them bedded down in the woods about thirty feet from our car. After running a few errands and coming home again, I grabbed the camera and snapped a couple portraits. I overexposed a little, but I think I saved them. :wink

oops... spooking moose can be a dangerous activity. :D Every now and then one of these animals kills someone. Gotta treat them with a whole lot of respect.

This one wasn't worried about me though. I have three shots from this angle I'm considereding animating, showing the chewing motion of the jaws. :rofl

I've been trying to get more shots of Alaskan wildlife, since it seems like most everyone WANTS shots of Alaskan wildlife. This is a start at least, even though I shot them from my driveway. :wink Ah well, truthfully that's how the majority of Alaskan wildlife photos are shot. :rofl

I can't imagine having creatures like this hanging around my house! It would be amazing. I love wildlife. Hope I can make it to Alaska someday.
Please ignore my opinions! And if I ask for constructive criticism, please give it to me. I have really thick skin! :huh

Not really fair. All I get in my front yard are a few sandhill cranes.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Well when I look closer at the last photo above, I wonder if I see horns coming through, but I haven't seen any around with real antlers this winter. They come around every now and then, but usually the bulls like to avoid people. The ones we usually see are cows with one or two calves, which is also the more dangerous ones to be around. The story of the tourist who gets stomped or mauled trying to take pictures of wildlife up here is one that is repeated far too often.

As for the cranes, we get some sandhills up here too. I know of a guy who jumped one once trying to catch it by hand (this is how Alaskans are :D) and got himself beat up pretty good. Evidently they have really strong legs! rolleyes1.gif

Thanks for the comments everybody! If you ever make it up here look me up, we can make sure you get out and see some wildlife!
