Hello,

My name is Steve - I'd never heard of dgrin until a few hours ago.

By chance I'd happened to buy an item from Andy last week. This week I happened to sell an item to wxwax (Sid). Talking on the phone Sid brought up this forum and I decided to take a look.

Always good to contribute so I thought I start with a photo I processed recently. Taken in La Jolla, California - lots of pelicans there. What amazes me about them is that they can glide for such extended periods 6" off the water without flapping their wings.

Tech info - 1dsm2, 300/2.8 IS with 1.4x, 1/1000, f/5.6, ISO 800, handheld

And a crop from a 30" wide print looks like

Steve, super pic of the trio of pelicans and, cool link Gus to the info on the Pelican aircraft. I appreciate how those guys glide so effortlessly over the water even more now.clap.gifclap.gifclap.gif

First time I ever saw Brown Pelicans was on the Internet, we have the big White one's here where I live in Australia.........I always thought those Brown ones had been caught in an Oil Slick or something aweful like that, then I realized they are just a different species of Pelican :D silly me rolleyes1.gifrolleyes1.gif

I had a quick look at your Gallery Steve, very very nice, I see you've been to UTAH and photographed those beautiful Antelope Canyons.

Welcome to the forum Steve........thanks for sharing..... Skippy (Australia)
