How to write an artist's statements

There is this gallery near my work that accepts artist's work. So for me to submit I need to write a proposal and an artist's statement. I have drafted my proposal and 20 photographs that I selected.

So I am questioning, what makes a strong artist's statement and proposal?

I have been brainstorming the theme of the exhibition, layout, descriptions, and walkaways.
