Some bumble bee shots. You can clearly see some mites on the first bee. Have dreadfull trouble with exposure on these guys not helped by the BGs :)

These are real good, as always from you. The third is my favourite. (Did I spell the last word correctly?):D

Hey there Brian that's a really cool shot with the Mites attached clap.gif
Do they just drop off in time, or do they kill the host?

I actually found a large Katydid inside the house the other day.
Had the door open for the cat to come in and out and noticed it up on the curtain track when I went to shut the door.

You think I could catch the dang thing rolleyes1.gif
It was really late so I got the computer chair climbed on it (not a clever thing to do on my part) and caught it.

Took it out to the little shrub beside the deck and released it,
haven't seen it since dang it! rolleyes1.gif so much for the photo op rolleyes1.gif

Thanks for sharing your shots .... Skippy :D

    Thanks Skippy,
Suspect the mites just shorten the life span of the bee.

With bugs in the house I normally catch them with a glass and piece of card and then wait a short while to see if the bug calms down. If it does you can often lift the glass and get a few shots before releasing it.

incredible...you should really get in touch with a local honey council. I've seen publications with pictures of bees, and lots of articles about mites, but none have had quite that quality of photo! I'm sure that someone somewhere would like to use it. It's incredible!!

Not necessarily, even though it's not a honey bee, most would be terribly interested to see these pictures.thumb.gif
