Here are two shots I took at Oceanside, Oregon a few months back.
This starfish was a cool find.
Minutes later, I took out the telephoto lens to capture the moon as it quickly sank in the sky between the distant sea stacks. You can barely see it in the above picture.

i really like both of these. this is a great example oh how beach photography can be outstanding. most beach photos dont have a true subject, yeah they have the ocean but it is not a good subject in photos. you nailed it with the rock and starfish inthe first and the moon in the second. GREAT JOB!!

Nice! Portland is sure a lot different than Phoenix. Hopefully you get some good weather. I don't know how much time you have or what your plans are but you should really check out the Columbia River Gorge.
