Canon is promoting continued support for those users of the Canon camera models 1D MKIII and 1Ds MKIII who continue to experience AF difficulties:

As a registered owner, I received their e-mail about this. Canon's support is terrific in my experience, but the e-mail in this case reminded me of that classic scene from "Casablanca": "We were shocked . . . SHOCKED . . . to learn that these cameras have AF problems!" ne_nau.gif Also the issue that they are now talking about -- focus softness when an AF point other than center has been selected -- may or may not be a different issue, but plenty of people (including me) have experienced the original, much discussed and heavily documented problem, using center-point AF exclusively.

With that said, I am happy to report that in my own case, I have reason to believe that I have gone a long way toward making my Mk III "be all that it can be" using the AF microadjustment feature (in combination with LensAlign, a neat little tool that I also discovered on this forum).
