How do you haul your flash stands and tripods?

Hey all,
I have been trying to find better way to haul all this bulky gear (2 light stands, 4 umbrellas, monopod, tripod) around. They are about 3 feet long and when bundled together they are about a foot or 10 inches or so across. What I would love: some sort of rolling golf club bag like thing that was made just for this application. It needs to look professional too. Got any ideas anyone? What do you use?

Actually I hadn't thought of a golf club bag until just now. That might be an idea....

I have been looking at some firewood/log carriers to hold tripods, stands and big umbrellas:

While it might have to be adapted a bit, the price and basic function look pretty good.

I had a sling I used for awhile.. believe it or not, it was practically free. I used the Nylon cover that came with a fold-up lawn chair, and had a friend sew on some Velcro wraps with rings. Then I just clipped my fave old guitar strap to the thing, cinched the Velcro, and that's it!

Of course, the idea struck me while owned a LIME GREEN chair, so next round, I may go for a more subtle look....ne_nau.gif

    Case
I have a case by Impact that is nice. Holds everything. Not expensive, although mine came with lights I bought. I have a Tutto case - 4 wheels that it can travel on top of.

The Hukuba bags are very reasonable price (some would say a bargain) and work perfectly for this purpose. And I believe most of them contain a side pocket for things like PWs, etc.

Here are a couple of examples I found at Adorama. I haven't decided yet, but I think one with wheels will be the way to go.

I got a large "Outdoor Duffle Bag" from walmart for $20. It's black and made of fairly sturdy canvas. So far I've had three light stands, three tripods (one good, solid, heavy one and two lightweight cheapo tripods), two umbrellas, a softbox, some backdrops, and a few other odds and ends in it and it hasn't fallen apart yet. It was really loaded down, felt like a good 60-70 lbs at least, but it seems like it will hold up. Just one big open compartment though, so I wouldn't try to put everything in it. I have toolbox for smaller parts that I don't want to put loose in the bag, like clamps, etc.

I've REALLY cut down since purchasing my 70-200 f4 IS. I've stopped hauling the tripod completely. BUT I use the tripod bag (very nice Bembo 1 padded, shoulder strapped) to carry lightstands and monopod. I carry my lights in a Porter case, which I highly recommend. Hard carry on size case, holds 1 alien Bee, 2 reflectors, Sunpak 622 with bracket and extra heads, extension cord, Quantum Turbo Battery. The case's real awesomeness is that converts to a handtruck which holds 250 lbs, so shoulder bag goes on it, tripod bag goes on shoulder, and we all roll on allright.

I have used for many years a large green military duffle and an airport luggage 2 wheel cart....stand that duffel up, put a bungee around it and go..........inexpensive and works like a charm....................and if I am carrying lights also I picked up a nice 2 tone brown extra large wheeled suit case, semi hard sided....can pack my 4 studio lights, stands, extra lamps, gels, gels frames, extension cords, and lot of other gack as needed....then the t-pod just goes over should with its own strap......................

Wow! You guys have some really great ideas! I am so interested in several of these. And guess what! I have the rolling duffel already... so I don't know why I never thought of it before. That thing is huge!
I'll see if those stands will fit in it. And those mammoth trunks on wheels that you guys pointed out look really snazzy too!

Thanks everyone! I REALLY appreciate it.iloveyou.giflust

This Under Armour Clean Up Bat Bag is nice. The rear slot is a good size compared to some of the others to fit several stands yet hold them snug enough to keep from rattling around. The main compartment can hold umbrellas, softboxes, etc. There is also a small front pocket, clips (kinda cheap plastic) and straps for carabiners.

Unlike some other bat/baseball bags, this one is rectangular, without the big hump/bulge at one end. And its less than $25 thumb.gif
