Into the Light (img)

My photographer friend and I used to joke around about how photographers and artists love making the names of their pieces really deep... I myself have never been a big fan of this method. But to each their own.
As such, I present to you "Chelsea of the Sexy Leg Clan". The girl in the photo is my best friend at UCSD. I'm teaching her how to be a photographer, and she is coming along on many of my adventures. Sometimes I ask her to do ridiculous things, like run towards the "Eye of Heaven" (I prefer column of light) in the background.
"No no no Chelsea, you're doing it all wrong! I need you in the left side of the composition to balance things out."
"Chui, lots of these weeds have spiky things on them. My legs are getting all cut up!"
"Sacrifices must be made for the sake of art."
Photography, and art in general, doesn't always have to take itself too seriously. I like this image not so much for its "artistic merit" or whatever, but more because hey - this is a ridiculous moment that I shared with my friend. Now I have this shot, and Chelsea and I can hang it on a wall and only she and I (and dgrinners) will remember what a ridiculous day it was.
Oh, life is good. Even with finals coming up in a week.
:rofl :rofl

Technical info: Canon 1ds. 17-40L at 17 mm, F16. Converted to B&W, did some contrast enhancement using curves + layer masks, and added a bit of grain in post processing.
Photo taken yesterday, 5-27-05. This is just outside UC San Diego in a construction area... our original plan was to go to the cliffs nearby but when I saw that crane we decided to try a different course of action.
No Chelsea's were harmed during the filming of this photograph.

That's a very nice shot thumb I agree that "Into the Light" has been used a lot (I think I even have one...lol). But, it is appropriate for this one. Much nicer than say "Towards the Crane" :lol
What a nice friend you have. She takes direction well and she's probably still picking bullthorns out of her sneakers....lol
I enjoyed the pic and I also enjoyed your humorous narrative. Good work on both counts Enjoy that beautiful SD/La Jolla weather

I'm sure the 1Ds adds that extra fun to the picture-taking.
