Birds at the KC Zoo

I took a trip to the KC Zoo on Saturday... I would have gone earlier in the day had I thought about them closing at 4, but I still got some good stuff...

1) A trumpeter swan

2) This duck apparently found something fairly amusing because I heard her "laughing" a couple of times.

3) A lorikeet.

4) A saddle-billed stork. Mom must not have told them not to play with their food because they must have dropped the frog they were playing with 5 or 6 times before they ate it.

5) A silver-cheeked hornbill.

6) A hamerkop.

More animals, not just birds, can be found in the rest of the gallery here: http://www.caughtlookingphotography.com/gallery/7552023_8PR3P/1/487953837_faJmL

As always, C&C is welcome.

Zoo's are fun and a great place to practice shooting. One of the problems with a zoo for photography is eliminating distracting backgrounds.

I like the stork in this set.thumb.gif

Funny story about the stork... While I was shooting, there was a man and his daughter nearby... she was young enough that she was riding on dad's shoulders... and when her dad told her what kind of bird she was looking at, she said, "Bring us some babies. Bring us some babies..."

I'm sure her dad, in his head, was going, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" rolleyes1.gif

I'm still amazed how well that lorikeet pic came out... considering it was inside the enclosure and I wasn't... wings.gif

Glad you like the stork... :D

Good set, most of the capturs don't have that zoo look to them. thumb.gif

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

It was fun... And next time, I'll try going inside the enclosure so I don't have to try focusing out the cage... thumb.gif
