....In North East Ohio, so I went down to the wetlands to find me one.

On the hunt.

I can't even catch one with a rod and reel.

Gulp! Tasty!

And what should of been the coup de grace, lands up being an OOF, blown out, crappy BIF. I'm just excited I was able to get outdoors and shoot something different.

Excellent series. You really captured the GBH's hunt well. clap.gif I would have knocked down the EV about a third of a stop.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Thanks.

Keep shooting. I've only been at it since last December. Still learning and making tons of mistakes.

    Thanks Harry.

I agree. I'm still learning the 400 and it's ability. I went off and bought too many lenses to close together. I'm going to start having to write cheat sheets on them until I learn the best way to use each one.:D

I was going to ask how close you were able to get to a GBH. The local herons here in western Indiana seem to have a very large approach radius. When I shoot them with a 400 they are just a very small image on the sensor. Yours are very nice. Whenever I just see a GBH, it lofts and is gone. I have never been able to capture it hunting like you have. Very nice series, Khaos!!

Wow, that's awesome Khaos! The fish appears to my eyes to be a walleye (or pickerel), cool. thumb.gif You did very well on these.

I was about 30 to 50 feet? I'm terrible with the distances. The wetlands here have a viewing deck right in the middle, so the birds are pretty used to us humans.

Thanks Ben. These birds are so much fun to watch while hunting. Their slow deliberate movenments and then the head dive into the water for the catch is very cool.

    Very nice set Khaos thumb.gifthumb.gif

Close in, sharp and really interesting action clap.gifclap.gif Way to go!! You are doing very well, considering how little time you've spent "birding" :D Of course, all birders know that being in the right place at the right time sure does help...lol
You nailed the GBH and caught him at the right time too thumb.gif

    Thanks for sharing,

Thanks Steve. Yeah I know all about right place and right time. It's always so much fun spending a patient hour or two just waiting for something to happen and right when you start changing lenses to shoot something else, every bird in the vincinity not only start flying but they also put on a complete aerial show while you stand there with a lenseless camera and the wrong lens in hand going, "Oh that would of been a nice shot.":D
