Cool shots, Ben. They're pretty harmless, though I can say from experience if you try to catch one, they will bite you.:D

I'd try using shadow and highlight in PS on that first one. I think it would look even cooler with a darker back and foreground that showed more depth.

Hey Ben.. So is the wifey going to go on another walk? If mine saw one of those on my walks she sure wouldn't.

I agree you with Kaos on the first one you could play with it and it would be really neat..

    Nice shots!

You could be right ne_nau.gif and then we could both be wrong. People in the visitor center said it was a Gopher Snake (that's prob. not the right name either). Ahh really don't matter, it was just cool to find one in the wild :D

    Thanks for commenting thumb.gif

    Nice Ben,

I've only seen a snake in the zoo. We don't have any wild ones here.

The garter snakes look very different here (more green-black). I like how you enhanced the contrast, they do indeed stand out more. Good job Ben! thumb.gif

Yeah getting a good shot of a snake anywhere is cool, but in the wild I feel great (did not have any background or glass worries :D)

On the look for a rattler before summer out, there's plenty here just gotta keep looking. I'm surprised no reptiles by you, Why?? I thought there were some sort everywhere??

There are two reason as to why there are no snakes in Ireland.

The first one deals with the legend of St. Patrick, ( patron saint of Ireland and the reason everyone gets drunk on the 17th March), he is supposed to have driven the snakes out of Ireland during his conversion of Ireland from paganism to Christianity.

The second reason, the scientific one, is that Ireland being an island, the snakes never made it here. New Zealand also has no snakes afaik.

The first story is nicer though mwink.gif .

    Hey Ben,

You missed your golden opportunity. You could have posted the first snake butt shot. rolleyes1.gif

Cool pics. I hoped your wife enjoyed them.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
