Racetrack - Sailing Stones of Death Valley - Explained!

On Kdog and Aaron's excellent suggestion, Marc Muench & I headed out to the Racetrack Playa in Death Valley.
They pretty much look the same as they always have...
BUT BUT BUT just before we left, I snapped the elusive shot, which now shows exactly how the stones move! Look very closely at the stone at the end of this light trail:
I know that David_S85 was sure they were moved by Aliens. And now I've proven it! :s85

So now that we have irrefutable evidence that the aliens are in fact responsible we just need to figure out how a rock that moves in a squiggly line (as if it were - hypothetically - moved by a photographer who had a hard time seeing late at night) can result in tracks that straight.
One solved mystery reveals another!
