A few years ago, just after my high school graduation, my interest in photography really started to take off. I spent the summer roaming Washington with a cheap point and shoot. About a week before my freshman year of college I decided that it might be a worthwhile investment to purchase a dSLR to get around the serious limitations I had previously been experiencing. Below is one of the first pictures that I had taken with my new 20D and I think it's what inspired me to pursue this hobby. It was one of my first images where I was actually able to say, "Wow, I actually like the way this turned out." After shooting for the past few years, it's still among my favorites. Because I still struggle to produce something that I like more than this one (even after years of learning new techniques and gaining experience), I'm thinking that I had just gotten lucky with the conditions.
Anyway, I hope you guys like this. Thanks for taking a look!

My first camera was also a 20D, but I didn't take anything decent with it until a year or two later. The early random successes were good motivators though.
Also, around here we call those shots Bzdula Beams (tm), for context:

Ron, I love the first of those images you linked - especially the black and white one. Very nicely done!
