Here is one of my first macro shots. I need a decent tripod.

Manfrotto 055XPROB with MN488RC4 Ball head for regular stuff and an MN454 positioning plate for macro should do it :).

At least this is what I have (Ordered the positioning plate today)

Your shot isn't bad at all, very shallow DoF and seems a touch out of focus but it's still a nice shot. I'm no expert btw so if I'm a little wrong, there are some seriously good macro 'togs here to provide excellent help.

    Thanks
Thanks for the info. I just bought a Manfrotto setup on your suggestion. I need to get out there with that tripod and work with the lens.

You know bedz, you don't really need a tripod, have a look at LordV's images, Phils, lots of other MACRO contributors... actually most folks on the Macro forum do their shots hand held.

Sometimes they use a Tripod but more often they choose to hand hold.

Check out this thread within the MACRO FORUM

Brian goes into great detail as to how he works his MAGIC :ivar

It's not easy working with Shallow DOF, even though Brian always makes it look easy rolleyes1.gif

I like the dreamy look to this shot, as well as the colour.
    Nice work thumb.gif ... Skippy :D

Thanks for the info. I will read that but I need to get back out Monday and play with the lens. I think the macro shots in here are the best. Hopefully I can get half way as good.

    Nice limited DOF shot.
My only minor criticism is the main subject of interest is a bit centred (google "rule of thirds").
Can't help with the tripod as I don't use one :D

think if you focused on the stamens would have been better,& not centred.
