Hello! I'm so happy to have found Dgrin and these forums...looks like I have come to the right place to get lots of helpful feedback! This is my first season "officially" shooting weddings, and one of my clients has asked for a bridal portrait session in lieu of an engagement session. I'm not very familiar with the bridal portrait practice, as it isn't particularly common where I am originally from. Any help or ideas for the session would be greatly appreciated. TIA!

One of the best things to do in preparation for your first few shoots is to just look at as many photos by others as you can. See what styles are to your liking. Figure out what angles they were shooting the bride from (where they shooting level, from the ground up, on a step ladder looking down... where they at a 45 degree angle, 90 degree, etc) Pay lots of attention to your lighting, it is also very important. Do you want to light the bride with sunlight? Lots of shade? A hint of the sun peering through a window, all artificial studio lighting, etc.

There are many ways to go about the same thing, it's all a matter of taste and style :)

    Welcome to dgrin!
