Great setup - makes for a wonderful capture. Clearly an excellent photo, well executed.

    A few ideas...

I'm not sure if the flowers cut off on the edge of the frame make any difference. Might be nicer if they were all included.

I'm not sure I like the flash ghosting near the top of the wing. Motion blur would look fine here, but the flash doesn't work quite as well for me.

Or...excluded...the bits on the right and the cut off one and it's stem on the left. Desaturating the green and smoothing the background would be nice too. This image is strong enough as it is, however.

    Hi Steve
thanks for viewing and commenting on my image , if I remember right I shot this with my Nikon 300mm vr f/2.8 from about 12 feet but I was many feet away using a wireless trigger , they were completely undisturbed . I believe I cropped a vertical from a horizontal shot because I like the looks of a vertical better . Ill post another shot very similar that was also horizontal and see which you prefer. As to the flash you have a very discerning and good eye you would make a good judge .

thanks Ric I never thought about desaturating the green, but I could blur the background a bit with noisewear that might help . BTW you guys have some great pics also thanks for viewing and commenting.

Both of them work. In this one I like the fact you achieved stronger eye contact and once again you have captured some nice interaction.

Nice capture. thumb.gif It's a shame that one flower is distracting from a clearer view of the left hand bird. Still like to see surroundings including in shots.
