I have never read much on post processing and do much of it just by what looks good to me. Sometimes I feel like I over process my stuff. Here is one I just did. Just a quick shot I took of one my pups, nothing too exciting.
I adjusted the curves a bit to give more pop, cropped it and then created a mask of everything except Meatball and his bone and diffused it a bit.
