Ugly Starling - First 400mm Shots

This past week I got an older Nikon 400mm f3.5 lens for a great price on Ebay. The lens is wonderful, but I've got to get a handle on using these long lenses. It's a challenge. This morning I worked on my technique with a tripod. Here are a few shots of an ugly Starling in my back yard.

Oh, I should say that both of these images were captured with the use of 1.4x teleconverter.

Great shots, but are you sure that's not a Grackle? Seems to big for a Starling and colored like a Grackle.

Love that first one. Seems to really be telling you off!

Since I never saw a Starling....I thought it was a Grackle too. Nice job regardless.

Could very well be a Grackle. I'm not very good at identifying birds. Thanks for the correction!

It is a Grackle, Jeff.:D

This is a Starling.



Was corrected myself on this awhile back.
