Last month I was lucky enough to have my second cover photo published. This is the first time that it was a sports related cover. The publication is the 2009 Northwest Tour Guide (dial-up beware) by Bicycle Paper, a monthly cycling newspaper. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

It is an image I took last summer during the Crater Lake Century ride. I was also fortunate enough to have a second photo published in the guide above the table of contents too. Thanks Bicycle Paper! :clap

Congrats on the cover...My oldest son did the Crater Lake rim ride a couple fo years back and ever since I've wanted to make it down there.

How did Bicycle Paper find your photo?

How did it happen? It is kind of a long story but here is the short of it. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
For the last 2 years I have volunteered as the photographer for the Crater Lake Century ride. Last year (and this year) I was chosen to design the t-shirt and the advertising too. Because we had scheduled an advertisement in the July '08 (or august '08) edition of BicyclePaper last year I was able to make connections with the newspaper. Knowing I would already be up there, BicyclePaper asked me to write an article for the September edition. I then wrote "Sweltering Century." Later I was asked for images for use in the tour guide.

A few months ago I was informed that a shot I took at the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Crater Lake century ride would grace the cover of the guide. Even though I knew it was going to happen. It never hit home until the guide was published.
