How to create a watermark without PhotoShop?

I may be the only photographer left who does not use PS, but I need to make a watermark for my images, any suggestions as to best method to accomplish this?

You could use GIMP - http://www.gimp.org/. I'm sure there are other tools out there too if you're not happy with that one.

I see that you are a SM user. Just upload an image you want to use as a watermark, and SmugMug will apply that for you.

Free online image editing to create the watermark images, or to just edit the photo. Looks a lot like PS, too.
