Custom Imagery???

Not sure if this is the right place to ask...
How doe's one sell their custom images? I have sold regular photo's via smug mug. The thing I noticed is the "Crop" factor in Photoshop. I currently make my templates either 5X7 or 8X10. When you go online to purchase a photo that has been customized with a logo, you have to really watch where you put your layers in Photoshop. Not sure if I am making any sence to you all.
Is this something that you would rather work directly one on one with a customer? Is there a way to offer this service, and have the customer pay for it online?
Questions, questions, questions.

Is it possible to post an example of the problem you're encountering?

Here is a customized image in photoshop. I used a 8X10 format for my layers. When you print a 4X6 photo, it cuts off alot. I was told in order to get all into the picture, I need to start out at the size I want to print in Photoshop. (IE. 4X6 300DPI 5X7 300DPI 8X10 300DPI) I was also told that I can not make an 8X10 template and print it in a 4X6 or 5X7 size.

I was also told that I can not make an 8X10 template and print it in a 4X6 or 5X7 size.

It all has to do with aspect ratios......a 4x5 is basicaly the same aspect ratio as an 8x10.....if you stay with in the same aspect ratio it works.....so start with an 8x10 and you can go 4x5, 16x20,32x40.......otherwise there will be a lot cropped off.
The same thing happens when you shoot film, you have to learn where to position your subject ofr all the different print sizes or you shoot for a set aspect ration and just live with it.

4x6, 8x12,16x24,32x48 all the same aspect ratio
5x7,10x14,20x28,40x56 all the same aspect ratio

    hope this helps

i thought Smugmug had an option to keep the aspect ratio and print a white (?) bar on top and bottom. While not an ideal solution it would work.

I come to the conclusion, that starting out in PS for my print size may be the best way to go. Thanks everyone for the suggestions.
