"Bad Request"

Hi all,
My gallery pages are randomly not loading. The page appears, but the images don't appear, no matter how long I wait.

Refreshing the page most often makes the page load properly.

I customized these pages a while ago and they were fine, then a few weeks ago I started seeing this issue. This has been verified on three Macs, using Safari 3, Safari 4 (Beta), Opera, and Firefox.

Doesn't matter if I am logged in or just visiting.

When I run into this problem in Safari 4, it gives me the following error...
Bad Request

If you want to take a look, I see the problem most often by doing the following...
http://talkingbox.smugmug.com/galleries
Then choose from the two featured galleries. Using the Galleries link in the navbar, go back n fourth between the two featured galleries (and/or possibly the pages in each gallery) and you will likely encounter the problem.

Might be a bad copy/paste job on my part... might be one of the Smugmug updates... either way, your input is appreciated.

Matt

We're so sorry to hear about your viewing issues. If you recently
updated MacOSX 10.5.6 and use Safari, we have noticed that there may be
problems such as you're experiencing. For now, we suggest using Firefox
instead as a temporary workaround. It appears that Apple may have broken
something in their latest update as these errors are new and random for
    the people that updated.

    You can get Firefox here:
    http://getfirefox.com

It's not only happening on SmugMug, but also on other sites. It's an
Apple issue that you can see here:

    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1828211&start=0

Let us know if that helps for the time being. Thank you for your
understanding and we apologize again for the temporary inconvenience.

    All the best,

Thanks for the reply Andy. I'm sure it is still just a Mac OS problem (like you said), I just want to reiterate that the problem reaches beyond Safari. (Problem evident in latest versions of Opera and Firefox... the only difference is Safari 4 is the only browser that actually supplies an error. The other browsers just hang.)

    Anyway, thanks again.

    Hey guys:

Don (our CEO & Chief Geek) just made a little change, based on some brand new information from Apple (finally!) - and he believes this issue should be resolved, can those of you who've had the Bad Request error please try and surf the site in Safari and see if you can make it happen again?

    Let us know, thanks! ear.gif

    Hi,

What version of Safari? Can you try to reset Safari, making sure to clear the cache, and see if that helps?

    Hi Barb,

I am running Safari 4 Public Beta 5528.16. This is the first version released.

I had already purged the cache and restarted Safari.

I have seen the problem randomly while cropping thumbnails. So far, I have seen the problem four times, but I haven't seen it in a while now. Though I have seen other random problems today with the thumbnail cropping. Randomly I am getting a Smugmug generated "oops" dialog that says the thumbail can't be cropped at this time.

Anyway, I will post if I see any more Bad Request pages.

    Thanks,
    Matt
