Love pawn shops

Wife dragged me into a pawn shop today.
While walking past all the Walmart optex tripods (they had a lot) a real tripod caught my eye. Digging it out of the tangle I picked it up and it was near weightless. My interest was piqued!
taking a close look at it I saw the name Velbon, which I recognized from my readings here. Feeling the slight texture of the legs and the not metallic but not plastic feel to the legs made me start thinking carbon fibre.
I did not recognize the model names though and I recently bought a manfrotto tripod I am happy with. Talkng to my wife we decided to by the Velbon el carmagne 530 with an FHD-52Q head.
Getting it room and lookingup values I see I have an inomplete carbon fibre tripod.
I am missing the split column, only having a really short stub of a column. i am also missing the carrying bag.
After all the digging I figure total value new(and complete) is around $400 CDN. Not a bad deal for $40.
