Goodbye Bush
Fun little play on words, and alluding to the smart and sassy Veet ads that ran on January 21, 2009.
The following pics were taken on March 17th, outside Calgary’s Telus Convention Centre, where George W. Bush was speaking at a luncheon in front of 1500 oil and finance industry people who paid $400 each to hear him speak about “a momentous 8 years in the Oval Office.” I was outside, amongst 200 protesters, adding my head to the count of those few Calgarians who weren’t appreciative of his visit, nor welcoming him to our city.
To any and all, Calgary is in Canada, and is in the province of Alberta - known as "Texas North" to many.
This was George W. Bush’s first speaking engagement and first public appearance since leaving office in late January. There are very civilized cities throughout North America and the world where he would not be safe and certainly not welcome. Calgary, as it turned out, was where he felt most comfortable in visiting.
The luncheon was in a convention centre downtown on a work day. Humorously, the ticket-buyers had to wait outside in sub-zero-celsius temperatures and get heckled by the protesters for nearly an hour before the line slowly moved inside. You can see the rest of my pictures from this event (only a couple more) on my smugmug site: www.cdubphoto.smugmug.com

I am always amazed at how the liberal left (I had radical first but thought it best not to be mean spirited) assumes that everyone shares their viewpoint. Best to keep your politics to yourself.
BTW President Bush would be most welcome at my table.

I second that.

I agree with both of you and I find it funny that if you ask a U.S. Marine what he thinks he would say most likely say that he supports Bush (or at least all the ones I know)
not another word about Bush or dinner tables, OK?
PS: very nice captures of a current event. good PJ work.

I do like the combination of wide and detail images to show both scope and scale of the event. The detail images showing individual signage is important to help isolate individual concepts, and I especially like the portrait composition of the last image to show the location. It might have been just a bit more helpful to have a had an even wider FOV but it works pretty well as is.
