Spoons

Taken from an idea I had seen, these are three wooden spoons (I thought we only had one so hadn't bothered to do it until I spotted the others) set against a white polystyrene sheet background.

I had to then blur out the bg cos it was too distracting as I wanted it clean for my filter work to sit better in the image. So I selected the white, and lifted the levels high and white and then ran a filter to give it the final look and toning. Added a tiny bit of burn at the corners and a miniscule bordered edge.

WDYT?

    Paul,

The concept is well-executed. I like the presentation.

I am not keen on the vignetting here. Not that you used it - just how it looks - very heavy in the corners and nothing around the edges. Also, I feel that the cracks in the spoons should be darker, perhaps about zone I or II. Right now the cracks appear about zone IV, which makes the spoons appear rather flat. But, this is just my opinion.

I echo David's comments. I really like the composition and the creativity a lot. The BG color is nice, but I don't care much for the corner vignette either. I do like the dark accent, so maybe just a touch of vignetting on the edges would work. To me, the back spoon looks fine. The middle one is OK, although I agree that having the grain stand out more would probably enhance the image. I'm more bothered by the front spoon--it is just too soft.

Overall, I like the idea--it's definitely an image I would hang in my kitchen!

I really like it. The spoons appear real and like you would see them naturally. I actually like the corner vignetting. Just me. Lisa

    Thanks everyone.

It's just something different I tried, and it seems to be an OK image.

Definitely better than "OK!" My comments really would be just tweaks, and I may be wrong all around. I think it is a well-executed idea and, like I said, one that would hang in my kitchen. Framed in black with a wide mat, I think it would do well in an upscale restaurant too!

Keep trying the creative stuff, Paul. You'll give me some enjoyment for sure!
