Auto caption from file name

Is there any way to take the caption for a photo from the file name of the file being uploaded?

As is it, it is currently faster for me to upload everything to Flickr so it gets captioned properly and then transfer SmugMug via Smugglr than it is to try and re-caption every photo by hand.

This doesn't seem like an optimal arrangement.

    Hi,

    Our built-in uploaders don't have such an option, but one of the uploaders from our users might have it. Check them out. +

    If no caption is present, you can have the filename displayed instead on SmugMug. Just go to 'customize gallery' of the Tools button in a gallery and set 'filesnames' to yes.
    If you're Power or Pro user, you can also have filesnames shown at all times. Check #43 of our customization faq.

    Yeah, I wrote a quick hack to do this (convert filenames to captions for photos you've already uploaded):

    Redacted

    Whoops -- in my eagerness to update my hack to use OAuth (so you don't have to be worried about giving me your username and password), I broke the old version, so I need to fix this. Should have it done tomorrow some time.

    Whoops, that took a little longer than my original estimate. :-}

    (Actually, thanks to the awesomeness that is phpSmug, it didn't take long at all once I finally sat down and looked at my old code again.)

    Anyways, http://www.rudebadmood.com/smugcap/ is fully operational now, for all your filename to caption conversion needs. It now uses OAuth to log you in, so no more fears about giving me your username and password.

    Just fear of my crappy code, which is available for review here: http://www.rudebadmood.com/smugcap/src/
