Kayaking on the Nile

Hi everyone!

Here are a few shots from the river White Nile in Uganda. They are from near the source of the Nile as it comes out of Owen Falls Dam in Jinja. The rapids are BIG but relatviely safe. Loads of kayakers from around the world head here for the great paddling, warm weather and cheap beer :wink

Any comments would be greatly appreciated!

5) This photo is the right way up - he really is upside down and about 3 feet clear of the water! From this position the boat will come around and land flat on the water again - pretty impressive!

6) Silverback rapid. Unfortunately they are damming the river at this point - you can see the massive pile of rocks in the background they have in preparation to fill the channel.

Nice shots, I really like the the way the color of the boat pops in 1.

A friend was there a few years ago and stayed at the Hairy Lemon. I'm hoping to get some shots of her this spring if the weather ever warms up.

Awesome series. Did those guys read the instruction manual on those kayaks?

I thought the kayaker was supposed to ride the kayak, not the other way around. :D

Thanks for the comments! Most of these guys have taken the instruction manual, thrown it in the bin, and are writing there own one! Some very impressive moves being thrown by some people.

Cayuse, the Hairy Lemon is about a 5 minute float from where photos 1-5 were taken. It's an incredibly relaxing place and amazing for kayaking.

    Cheers,
