Busy Today :-) Spring is here.

(Photos Below) I've been a busy boy today. My wife/son/her parents went to the Smoky Mountains for the weekend so I'm home alone.

First, I went outside around 8 and did a ton of weeding in my flower beds. The edges of the beds needed a little (ok, a lot) of attention so I worked on that too. Dug them back a little...pulled the clover and grass out that was creeping into the beds.

After that I came inside and swept the house. First I had to pick up my boy's toys and other stuff he leaves lying all over the place. He's a gatherer/stacker/pile-maker you know :-).

Once the inside work was done it was late enough to get the mower out and mow the grass for the first time this year. It really did need it.

We needed a new grill, so I went to the store and got a new grill. Nothing fancy, just a $125 model. Don't worry, I took it outside before firing it up. It was starting to rain so I assembled it inside.

Besides the grill we have a new outdoor rug. It's for the deck. It's made of a type of plastic. It's soft and it's pretty cool. I also started bringing the furniture up for the deck...but only got as far as putting the deck swing together. Gotta pace myself ya know :-) Here's the new rug thing. The table will go on top of this...unless you know who decides it needs to be somewhere else. I'll find out she gets back.

So after all the work, I was ready to play. I am tired so play for me means grabbing the Nikon D700 and taking a walk to see what I can find. Hmmmm...let's see...thinking...dang, I look cross-eyed in that picture.

Still thinking, sitting on a log.
<img src="http://openbloom.smugmug.com/photos/500671027_fj3o2-M.jpg">

Maybe I'll go to the old barn. Always some interesting subjects in there. Whoa!...where'd the sun come from? I can't see.
<img src="http://openbloom.smugmug.com/photos/500671101_2Btme-M.jpg">

Ok, here we go. Gotta open the barn door. Hi-tech door latch eh?
<img src="http://openbloom.smugmug.com/photos/500671159_2THC9-M.jpg">

Someone left the old wood chipper in here. Don't need it anymore I suppose. We've got the big one for the back of the tractor.
<img src="http://openbloom.smugmug.com/photos/500671219_RJxAn-M.jpg">

Ok, what's that behind me?
<img src="http://openbloom.smugmug.com/photos/500671261_hknyD-M.jpg">

Oh, an old wooden ladder. Maybe I'll be stupid and climb up it even though there's no hay loft.
<img src="http://openbloom.smugmug.com/photos/500671305_aeQPn-M.jpg">

Wait a sec...I think the last time I tried that, I busted my a**. Oh yeah, there's rung missing there near the bottom. Duh.

I do like that old ladder. Even with one rung missing. With the old wood floor and hay, it's a nice photo.

Alright, I've wasted enough time. Back to the house. On the way, I had to take a shot of the columbine. This is one of my favorite plants/flowers. You can't beat the foliage in spring when it rains. It holds water drops and is really great. It's so fresh and it screams spring!
<img src="http://openbloom.smugmug.com/photos/498994182_XVe7i-M.jpg">

My tiny daffodils are blooming. They really are tiny if you see them in person.

Magnolia is about to bloom. I may get lucky this year. The frost usually kills the blooms for they fully open.

<img src="http://openbloom.smugmug.com/photos/500670843_6Ps7b-M.jpg">

And finally the daffodils with the yellow center. They're fading now. Next to my corkscrew hazel...a wild twisted shrub.

    You had quite a day didn't you :D
    I like the new outdoor mat you picked up at the store.

    Did you try the new BBQ out at the end of the day?

    I love the last shot of your garden, and of your Magnolias.

    Thanks for sharing your day thumb.gif .... Skippy :D

    Thanks Skippy. I lit the grill just to make sure it works (gas grill), but no cooking yet :)
