Don't eat this tomato....

Because yes, it is actually a close up of a tomato!

It has been sat waiting for me in the food recycling box in the kitchen for two or three days. Well, actually the wife chucked it out because it was starting to go soft and soggy, and after a day in the humid enclosure of the recycling box it began to resemble the landscape of an alien planetoid...

I had to be really careful with the set up because the focusing would have to be critical. So I locked up the mirror and manually focused and also set the noise reduction function to on, in the settings of the 400D, using the Sigma 105 lens and three extension tubes. The shutter was released by infra-red remote control.

In LR I set the whitebalance using the eyedropper tool and then tweaked the exposure and the blacks and saturation levels, which I further fiddled with in CS3 afterwards, and there also used a high pass filter and Noiseware Pro to keep it all looking tidy, all on separate layers.

If only I had an MPE-65, I'd be in seventh heaven I think, but there is more chance of me plaiting fog than happening!

C&C as always encouraged.

Oh wow, that's a unique capture. I'm fascinated by the bulbs on the strands of what I assume is some kind of fungus.

    Awesome.

I'm sure someone will tell us in due course what the fungus type is :)

I'm just amazed by the fact that there are blue spores mixed in there. Blue?!

I'm starting to like fungus shots, and this one is an outstanding example.

    Awesome shot! thumb.gifthumb
