    Hi David,

As an ardent motorcyclist with over 50 years of riding behind me, I really appreciate the work ( and skinned knuckles ) that goes into a project like this. I'm curious, does the finished bike handle as well as you had hoped? From the looks of the " chicken strips " on the Avons, I'd say it probably does. Very good work.

David - excellent bike! Say what you will about Poms, they know how to build a good streetfighter!

Now the funny part: I pulled up this thread and was looking at the photos and trying to figure out what the bike started as/parts/specs, etc (before I scrolled down and saw you provided all that info). I couldn't quite get it all, so I yell across the hall to my riding buddy to come have a look as well. Our guesses were close, but anyway, we finally scroll far enough to see you posted the specs, and there we find that my riding buddy shares the same name as the "English wheel god" who helped with your build. What a coincidence!?

Tom: We had our doubt's as we shortened the wheelbase by 76mm and couldn't decide on the rake - we took the trail of the 1400 and the trail of the gixer 1000 and set it inbetween the two, end result - she handles really well, stable at all speed's with no shake although she does get a bit 'lively and light' on the front when you go for it. Very pleased over all.

Erik: I don't believe in coincidences but in this case I may make an exception.

    Thanks guys

Not sure if I'm aloud to post youtube links or not but if your interested there are 2 videos - one of the build (you will notice part way through where we decided to go from twin shock to mono) and one of the finished project.

    David...

I about croaked when I tuned in on your video of the finished bike and saw that you used a Lynyrd Skynyrd song as background. I knew all those boys in the group.....they were from the Jacksonville, FL area. There was some common ties from Skynyrd to that later group, .38 Special, also from this area. Great music.

Sorry mate - for a great bike you need great music, you have no idea how hard it was to chose one track - took me a day to decide on swamp music lol.

    Hey David,

Don't be sorry, man. I wasn't griping....I was thrilled to see your choice of tunes. You said it; a great bike needs great music and you sure covered that base.

    Ride carefullly.
