Canon batteries?

I'm not sure if this is the place to ask but does it shorten the life of canon batteries to recharge them before they are fully spent? I have a 50D with a battery grip and would like to start each shoot with a fully charged pair of batteries. However, I rarely use two full batteries in a day of shooting.

Thanks

On the contrary, it should lengthen their life if they are usually partially discharged and only occasionally deep-cycled, since they are lithium-ion. If they were NiCads, then it would be the opposite, they would last longer if always deep-cycled.
