I've had this one for awhile and didn't like it, but still liked the water texture so I did a B&W conversion.
I need other eyes. I've been at it with this one to long and I don't want to wait a few weeks to look again.
Thanks.

But I would make the horizon more level.

I took one the last time I went to the beach. A typical shot like you were trying, except on sand. Most landscape people have them, they look easy.
HUH!!!! I have been trying, I have met with no success as far as I am concerned, I have one that has gotten compliments. Mine ended up, it was a stormy day, I pretty much saturated the color, then desaturated the color.
They look easy in magazines and books, don't they.
Cough up the color, see what Rutt thinks.

When i first looked at it, I wondered what it would look like if the surreal fealing of the shot were even more pronounced.
Maybe something like this (a little curve work and a couple of filters)
Please pardon my playing with your shot. I will gladly delete it after you've seen it. Just trying out ideas . . .
I knew, of course, that trees and plants had roots, stems, bark, branches and foliage that reached up toward the light. But I was coming to realize that the real magician was light itself.

That was my original intent when taking the pic was the log leading you in. Cool that you noticed.
I do like your treatment. I think I'll try that. Thanks.
Seen my lousy crow shot :lol4 :lol

I like it. It's a good shot... maybe crop the left side a little smaller so it fits the rule of thirds.
I rather like the shot. I find the high contrast pleasing, but I would recompose the shot. I agree that the log is the subject so here is my comment. I'd loose most of the sky, maybe just above the trees and maybe not edge to edge. Also, I'd crop some on the right to off-center the log, maybe to the edge of the junk in the water. I think the tree brings in a good sense of depth to the shot and I like the off color you've used. One last thing would be to straighten the horizon. It may be physically level, but the perception is a tilt down towards the left; perceptions are greater than reality :wow .
Nice shot IMHO,
