Reorganizing folders & losing link

I am trying to reorganize my SmugMug folders by combining a bunch of them into one gallery.

I was under the impression this could be done without breaking the links in my ADV ride report but I just checked my report and the pictures that have been moved all have broken links in the report.

Am I doing something wrong or was I mistaken in believing I could move the pics without breaking the link?

Yes, I have linked my SmugMug photos to my ride report on ADV.

I've manually updated the photos on the 1st page but then got to thinking this might be quite an undertaking if I have to do it with them all. The 2nd & 3rd pages show the broken links.

Hi Ken,

You used links like these:
http://NataHarli.smugmug.com/photos/246135225-L.jpg

The links don't have an image key attached. Could it be that you had these photos uploaded before we added the image and gallery keys? That change was done at the beginning of February 2008.
All galleries created and photos uploaded after that update were equipped with a gallery and image key that is required. Since you moved your old photo to a new gallery, the image key is now required. The above link has to look like this:
http://nataharli.smugmug.com/photos/246135225_zT8o5-L.jpg

There's no way around it. Moving old photos to a new gallery will require keys. Sorry.

Yes, I think I understand.

This photo, if moved, would require me to have to update the link in my report:
http://nataharli.smugmug.com/photos/250359671-XL.jpg

But, this photo, can be moved and I wouldn't have to update the link, it would still show up:
http://nataharli.smugmug.com/photos/493412717_Cr7qM-XL.jpg

Looks like the report in question has photos posted both before and after the change so I can live with that if I'm understanding you correctly.

Hi Ken,

Yes, the second link has all ready the image key needed. It would continue to work if you move it to a new gallery.

Thanks for the good news/bad news. But I'm glad I know what was happening now.

And, small world type of thing, but I live near a university and rent out a couple of rooms to foreign students who don't want to live in a dorm. I currently have a girl from Leipzig living with me.

Sebastian,

Maggie and her former boyfriend (also Sebastian) both went to the university in Leipzig. Maggie says hello.

Now, to get to work on updating my links.
