The hoverfly populace increased as the day got warmer, and despite the wind strength getting stronger too, got one of a hover parked on the bay leaf shrub.

    All natural Brian.

Any idea if the white band on the eye is common or normal? And is that shrub a variegated bay laurel? We have had the bush for years (it's 4 feet tall and 4 across) but I'm told it isn't laurel.
