I am looking at buying a Sigma 70-200 2.8F I have a Nikon D50 and I have a Nikon 70-300 1:4-5.6G lens right now which I have used with very good results. As long as there is enough light. digitalmemoiresbyblair.com

The photographers which I have spoken to suggested the Sigma lens listed above.

Does anyone have any advice on which lens to buy? I am not sure about which model.

I am shooting Bicycle races, Horse play days, Rodeos, and a good friend of mine is getting married and I will be helping with some photos.

Thank You
Blair

I think at that price point its a toss up between the Sigma 70-200 f2.8 zoom and the Tamron with the same spec. I was shooting a Lacrosse match yesterday with my Tamron mounted on my ever faithful Sony A100. The other guy shooting the match had the Sigma on his Nikon D300. Neither one of us complained about missing a shot. Don't get me wrong if I were doing this for a living I would get the Sony G series with the built in autofocus motor. But for my level of skill the Tamron works OK. This was a close crop and the lens is still sharp.

I have the Tammy, but everyone says the Sigma focuses faster.
I know that the Tammy does do a bit of searching in low light conditions, but I dont regret going with it.
