looking after them is one thing - just keep them away from any new growth you have as they really like to kill it

I like the shine on the apples and the mix of red and green. I'd be inclined to crop out the left portion, looks like an iris plant. Either way, I think this would make an interesting Christmas card!

    Nice!

Beautiful Iris--hard to beat those purples! If you hadn't mentioned the maple key, I'd have missed it--it has the same texture and shape as the petals.

    Thanks for sharing.

Thanks again Lauren.....Want to ask you how you like your 70-300mm?
I was thinking of trading in my 55-200mm for that lens.......I played around with it a bit at the store and I think I like it.

    Hi Joe-

I really like the 70-300, although it is a bit heavy and I don't find that I can keep it steady w/o a tripod or some other support. At the lower aps, it really does well with background blur. It gives crisp shots at the 300 range. I was expecting more of a difference between 200 and 300mm when I upgraded, meaning I thought I'd get closer with the 300 and it doesn't seem like it to me. It could be just my perception. Certainly, the shots I've taken that I'm happy with (birds and flowers mostly) are a big improvement over my kit 55-200.

I can definitely recommend the 70-300; the "drawbacks" are either from my problem with camera shake or my expectations, not with the lens!

Before you pick up new glass, I recommend you check out the gear forum and post a question in there. Ziggy and the others will give you great suggestions!

    Good Luck-
    Lauren

I like the original shot of the apples - their colour certainly gives a good contrast to the surrounding vegetation. The Iris is beautiful as well. As for the waskally wabbit............

Thanks Lauren for the info.........I'm glad to hear you find it does well at 300mm. I took a few shots at that range out in front of the store while the lens was on my camera, I also thought they were good. There are a few folks who think otherwise though. I'll be waiting for a sale price and probably pick one up then....Thansk again.

R.Jay..Thanks for the c&c, really appreciate it. I like that apple shot too, just something about the colours in the pic. As for the rabbit, I hear ya......It was a quicky with lousy light and thru a window.
