I had the idea and approached the local track owner that I shoot for about letting me make posters for the top 3 finishers in each class for the upcoming summer night series. He thought it sounded like a pretty cool idea. So, I told him that I would throw together a mock-up poster just so he could get an idea of what I was talking about. I made this today. It's a pretty simple design and I could definately push the envelope more on the design. I just want to know if you guys were racing a series, would you rather get a 20x30 of one of these with the best pic that I got of you during the series or would you rather have a trophie?

    Very cool.
If that is presented in lieu of a trophy, I would want to see the rider's name somewhere.

Yes, I forgot to add 2009 and I'll put the riders name on it as well.

What do you get out of the deal would be my question.

If this is in lieu of a trophy.. then.....

Then you are going to hope that you pick out the "best" photo of them that they are happy with too. What you think is best, might not appeal to the rider. Are you going to let them choose the photo?

But if it's in ADDITION, and you are getting something for your efforts, then get your poster on!

Well, there are approximately 17 classes. Posters for the top three adds up to 51 posters that I would get paid for as well as recognition of making them which will more than likely result in more. Plus, I want to do it for the riders who are tired of getting trophies. I would choose the picture. Riders don't get to go to the trophy store and pick out their trophies, so they shouldn't expect to pick out their pics either.

The "in lieu" kills it for me as a racer goes. Since it's for the overall series, I'd actually enjoy a nice CUP. In lieu of that, I'd rather have free practice passes or free entries to future races.

But as a photographer goes, killer deal if they are paying you for them. Plus, the advertising is a big boost too. Should pick up a ton of photo sales, and the all important higher cost posters too!

It's a great idea you have.

I like the idea of a poster as apposed to the trophy, my kids has no more room for trophies and they all meld into a sea of whatever after a while.

I know you kinda eluded to the fact that the design was lacking, that would be my concern I think it needs to be taken up a bunch of notches to get the Wow factor going for the folks that will be getting them.
