I'm looking for a camera bag that will hold two bodies, one with a battery grip, a 70-200 2.8, and maybe two other lenses. Do any of you have experience or suggestions on these bags? I will use it for travel and must be able to carry it on a plane.

I've got the Crumpler "7 Million Dollar Home" that I travel with. I carry a D300, 70-200, 24-70, 50mm and an SB-600 Speedlight. There's still plenty of room for a second body if I don't carry a couple of bottles of water as well as places for filters and other flat-ish accessories. It's a Messenger style, so it's over the shoulder as you walk around. I've not had any problems changing lenses on the move without having to sit or stabilise myself on something.

    Edit to ask and add:

Is this mainly meant to be just transport or will you want it to be your carry-around bag at the destination? Also, I don't think there is such a thing as the perfect bag. It's all a matter of practical compromise.

I will use it as a carry-around. I also forgot to mention it will need to hold a laptop. I have a small Tamrac now and have been pleased with it.

I highly recommend Thinktank bags. Very high quality materials/build and extremely well thought out.

I'd suggest the Urban Disguise 60, or model 50 for smaller laptops.

I own the Urban Disguise 60 & Speed Racer. Love these bags...

Yes, I have the Tamrac 5258 CyberPack 8. It's a good backpack. It is big! --- My problem with it: It's so big and just beggs to get filled up. I wind up carrying way too much gear with me when using this bag.

I don't know how much gear you need to carry at one time, but you might want to check out the ThinkTank Urban Disguise 60. It accepts laptops up to 17". My Toshiba 17" or HP 17" fits in it just fine.

I just posted a review of the ThinkTank Speed Racer if your interested.

    EMAM,

Does the rain cover for the TT bags have to be stowed inside the bag taking up space or do they actually have a designated out of the way place for it to reside....like the Lowe Pros......most rain covers are in the bottom in a velcro sealed pocket and it is permanently attached inside the pocket...no way to take it off and just lay it down....all their AW bags (that I am familiar with) work this way .....

The TT bags I have, the included rain cover has its own hiding place in the bag. I didn't even know it was there until I was really digging around in all the nooks and cranny's. Its almost flat and takes up very little room.

It has a pocket on the outside you could store it in, but I had it on the inside just because the bag has som much room that if that spot is empty, I'll fill it with a lens or some other piece of equipment that will just add weightrolleyes1.gif

It does fold flat and stows away in an area you wouldnt even notice it if that's what you want
