I went with my girlfriend to a show up in Radford, VA on Sunday. I'm not the American Idol type, but she loves him and she puts up with my weird concert going, so I went to one of hers. We were in the front row and I was allowed to bring my D80 with 50/1.8 and 11-16/2.8 in, so I got some pretty cool pics. And the show was pretty good too!

Full Gallery is here

Here are some of the 'different' shots I got, there's more standard ones in the gallery:

I have to say that the first shot is very cool. I kind of get a sense of vertigo when looking at it, almost like it's moving. Very well done!

These are great! Agree about the first one (which is my fave) - very cool effect. Did you just pan, or...?

Thanks - I was trying to do this in-camera by twisting it with about a 1/10th exposure, but I just didn't like the results. So I added a radial spin blur to a normal shot in photoshop. It was tough finding a picture where the effect worked though, I went through about 4 or 5 others that I thought would be good, but they didn't pop at all after the effect. This one is actually a little soft and blown out to begin with, so maybe that's why it works...
