I was amazed to watch these two work. The pilot was all about focus.
Made the flying look easy. I figure the working height was 125 ft. approx.

Hi Michael....very nice capture with this one. I once met three guys who did this for a living. They operated as a team. They contracted their work out to power companies, etc. While they contract out for quite a lot of money, the main man ( and pilot )of the team said that by the time they pay for operational costs, insurance, and so forth, they don't clear near what you would think they deserve.

Crazy ... a slight wind gust and everybody including pole are history ... if that happens you would have have a Pulitzer Prize winning photo (see/google Hindenburg).

    Gary

PS- Nice choice of shutter speed to blur the rotors.

Like you I would probably never consider this line (pun not intended)
of work. Spent about 1.5 hrs. taking photos along the work route
and to their refueling point. An unexpected treat to observe them going
at it. Let alone have my camera with me with the right lens. :D

Thanks for saying Tom. Appreciated. thumb.gif
Overhead does tend to get the lions share sometimes. These people certainly
deserve that little bit more for the heavy risks they take. Michael

Thanks Gary. To tell the truth I'd much rather get a Pulitzer some other
way than that. :D Took me a moment or two to dial in for rotor blur but
finally got it about right. mwink.gif Michael

Thats about it in a nutshell. All I have to worry about is if I took the lens
    cap off or not. :D

Ohhh my gosh, you'd really want to know that the man who is flying the chopper is in sync with his machine to the point where they are one in his line of work hu eek7.gif

Not for the faint hearted thats for sure.

    Great shot thumb.gif ... Skippy :D

And I thought the USAF Thunderbirds had skilled pilots! rolleyes1.gif

Excellent photo! If you know the company, have you considered sending them a sample? Definitely news publication worthy!

I'm in the high voltage business and still I'm amazed at their skills. These guys are pulling in the rope to tie the new conductor on to it.

You grabbed some nice shots Z06Nut. I imagine being in the
high voltage business as you say is a very interesting line of work.
I wonder at what kind of quick release to that rope those flyboys have. ne_nau.gif

Thanks Lauren. Nice of you to say. Didn't contact the company as I figured
they had loads of photography already. Plus I was somewhat sensitive to
going up against unwanted solicitation. Cold calls are not my favorite thing
though I have done them before. :D Michael

Appreciate hearing your feedback Skippy. Thank you much. thumb.gif Heard a good
one the other day concerning working the deck of a aircraft carrier. "If your
comfortable working the deck there is a problem". Thought that was an
    excellent assessment. :D Michael
