Gitzo Basalt - any opinions?

Hi everyone,
I've been reading and checking out those relatively new Gitzo Basalt tripods. They're interesting to me. They are just about as light as the carbon fiber tripods, but come in about 20% cheaper.
Just wanted to know if anyone owns one, or has spent some time using one (or knows someone who has) and wants to share their experiences... I'm curious to know if they're any good and whether or not the fiber pods are worth the extra cash.
Cheers in advance!

I think it's a great option for folks who are looking to save a little from CF but who don't mind a little added extra weight.
