Well, I thought since I always enjoy a good photo thread while my actions are perking away :D I decided to post more from this gorgeous wedding. (I'll try to keep the chit chat down. Sorry guys, I am female and work alone so I have to work really hard to not get my 20,000 words out in a single post. )

1.
Remember Katrina? She sure is a cutie!
509895747_3esN3-L.jpg

2. And she had one of the more unique gowns I have seen for quite a spell.
509703240_qStMN-M.jpg

3. Meet Trapper. He considers himself a lucky guy.

509701390_TnHCf-M.jpg

4. This could be the reason why...(?)

509719238_HUR4j-M.jpg

5. (Still no ring... sorry Scott. Bummer, huh)
509725585_86md8-M.jpg

6. This is one of my favorites... Katrina and her baby sister (the flower girl). I just love the energy and the happy tilt. Not a big fan of our brown trees. Someday spring will come. Until then I will content myself with that fact. (And yeah I know it is on the edge of being blown, but I still like it. So there!)
509722968_WhitS-M.jpg

7.
509733798_n4Xqb-M.jpg

8. The meeting of the KKK chairs.
(Not the worlds greatest photo, but I thought of the funny phrase and couldn't resist it.. thanks for putting up with me...:giggle)
509687347_8Ra6L-M.jpg

9. On to the ceremony... and that is that. (If you have seen one ceremony photo you have pretty much seen them all. I posted this for Julie to show what you can do with her church of many windows situation)
509771943_ZFuTn-M.jpg

10.
509787668_hWzkY-M.jpg

11. This was a crazy experiment that turned out... I had tried it earlier in the day and it did not work at all. The sun had to go down quite a bit to make it work. The flash was inside, I was outside and there was a reflection of the beautiful sunset. Darn that satellite dish behind me.
509802965_ZRM6j-M.jpg

12. Ok now we are getting to the fun ones... We had exactly one gust of wind the entire time out there... and it was perfect. The partial moon was out...
509813024_NhX6T-M.jpg

13. Wish I had spent more time posing their hands....
509813399_MsGJp-M.jpg

14. The next one had no cut off foot, but their expressions was so much better in this one...
509818167_iXFHd-M.jpg

15. This one has many issues... but still... I like it. Consider it my artsy fartsy bit of the post.
509815969_3FJp7-M.jpg

16. I wanna be Angie when I grow up and be able to get away with crazy cross processing and tons of flair:
509820605_ytwzu-M.jpg

17 This couple kissed a total of 3 times the whole day... apparently not a fan of kissing in public. So this was the PERFECT shot for them. (It is easier with her entire family's eyes closed...)
509843467_yHWCE-M.jpg

18. Decorating the truck...
509881758_MeppP-M.jpg

Anyway... C & C always welcomed and appreciated.

(Just don't flay me, okay?)

Don't hate me but I am totally going to steal a couple of your ideas from this. Sorry but some of those are just great! I also appreciate the running comedic commentary. :D

Well I think we summed it up this afternoon. You have taught me alot (btw...the tip about masking using black and white and gassian blur in cs4, came in handy already! Thanks!). Thank you for letting me second for you. I am at awe at the work you do and the ease and energy in which you seem to accomplish it!

I love all your pictures and doing the two stobe flashes seem to work like a charm. I will have to invest in another sb800 and try the same. Or get my novatron to work.

    Thanks for the fun!

Heather, 15 seems to be the one that you have the most issues with personally...I have to tell ya, it's one of my favorites along w/ the Angiesized 16!

....and yes, we can all be so lucky as to have "Angie Aspirations" and be "Fanatical about Furey" :D but I would say your style is quite beautiful. thumb.gif

Heather - these are stunning. I'm not digging the first two (shadows in #1 and #2 is too dark for my taste), but the rest are out of this world.

#12 is my favorite (closely followed by 17) - just proves that it is sometimes better to lucky than good. However, I think this shot (#12) shows what you can get if you are lucky, good, and prepared! Stunning!

Thanks Julie! No problemo... A lot of the time I just let the highlights of the windows blow, and decided to be happy with that. (like in the KKK chairs, Laughing.gif) but some of the time I worked really hard to get both exposed properly. It depended on the photo, of course...

Thanks Scott- on #1, my second umbrella got left downstairs and it was either shoot without it or don't get the shot. Guess which I chose? But the shadows don't kill it for me because she is so stunning I can easily see past them. And number 2 you think is too dark? Hmmmm. I was going for the low key look. I'll have to play with that one a bit more.

But thanks for the comps on the ones you did like! iloveyou.gif

I will differ with scott on #2. I like it as is. Then again I like low key, moody work. :D

Sometime I would like to hear more about your photo shop actions. Not what actions you use, but rather whether or not you use them all the time. Do you consider them part of your style? Can we see the before and after on an image or two? I know that is like a magician and their secret, so I will understand if you don't! Some of the photos have obvious treatments but some of the best from this series don't appear to need/want/have them as you created dramatic moments with your lighting. For instance I would think #12 was pretty sweet right out of the camera.

That was kind of rambling, but I hope it makes sense. headscratch.gif
    Thanks, Matt

It's an evil plot, isn't it? You (and Jeff and everybody else) are just TEMPTING me by causing me to salivate and drool over the gorgeous pictures so that I start to reconsider the whole shooting weddings thing, don't you? Well harumph. I'm wise to you and I WILL NOT BE ASSIMILATED (yeah, right) and so (for the time being) I shall just sit here and gawp at the gorgeousness from a safe distance rolleyes1.gif

BEEYOOtiful. I love the way you use flare, Heather - absolutely gorgeous.

    In reply to Matt S:

Well, the only one in this set that I used any actions on is #1... The rest are pretty much what they were after lightroom (except for a bit of levels, and touchups and stuff like that). #1 was the nichole vaughn inside color pop essentials. And I painted back the skin and hair.

I don't use actions in my photo work much at all- I find them to be often too super saturated and usually end up going back to what it was before the action. I have been wondering the very same questions you posed. But I know that others can use them to great results. I have read somewhere that folks put them on different layer styles... overlay and stuff like that. But I haven't figured that out. I know that Angie uses them like crazy and I love her stuff.... Maybe I am just not brave enough!
I do use a lot of actions for my other projects- invitations and the like. Edge finishing actions are the best! And also font altering ones are fun too.

Thank you Heather, exactly the answer I was looking for. I hope the rest of your processing goes well, it's such a time killer and while I am always anxious to see the shots, the long day editing can wear you out.
    Thanks, Matt

I have to concur...nice work. I like the through the window shot of the flash inside...very nice.

And the BG B&W where everyone has their hands over their eyes while the BG kiss...the first time that I've seen that one...from now on, I'll just refer to that pose as the Heather Feather...very creative and very well done. I have already adopted it as something that I want to do.

Thanks for sharing...I always enjoy your work...
