I like that you got down on his level...because he's looking right the composition completely makes my ADHD crazy..I understand you wanted to keep the nice color of the ball in the shot but, I would have either called his attention or put more space on that right hand side and cut off the left.
Thanks for the critique. I cropped it that way as there was some crap in the right side of the frame that I had to excise. I liked the look and felt it told a bit of a story, maybe in minimalism, but I can see how the off-frame look could be disconcerting. That said, I have enough pictures of him staring straight at me to want something a little different.
