Harvester ant

I think these ants are red harvester ant Pogonomyrmex barbatus.



They appeared to be clearing clutter out of the nest.



Eastern New Mexico. Small, perhaps new nest in a small clearing in desert vegetation.

Industrial little critters they are

Ants are very interesting to sit and watch.
Not easy to shoot ... well done ... Skippy
