The second one is a sweet idea and great execution. I'd like to see it a bit more polished up and I believe that would be my choice.

I personally like the darker one better. It (for me) makes the trees even more dramatic. They are both great though.

I agree about the darker version. Is there a way to sharpen it up? Also, the horizon is a bit skewed.

I will sharpen it up, and fix horizon by half a degree.

I just noticed that all three of your photos are tilted by the same amount. Interesting.

Looks like I am used to holding camera sideways... But since first one was taken by Wife, it may be due to slightly tilted sensor..?
Anyways, here is another parched candidate, wonder how good is it

I prefer the lighter version. The darker one feels slightly out of focus. I also think it would help to crop out some of the foreground.

The cropped version, how does this look? I have managed to squeeze out little bit of false color in this one by pumping up the saturation
