Playing with DoF and see how much I could get in low light. Alas, aspects like composition flew out the window. Mostly, I need to do more indoor (aka controlled) shooting with my macro set up so I can do it
1. without injuries (impaled, sliced and severely squished finger)
2. faster

Hey, for a first time I didn't think I did too bad, but critiques on the macro aspects would be appreciated.

SPECS:
105 Sigma macro (new to me, still playing with it, but was out to 1:1)
+ 36mm extension tube
D3
natural difuse light (cloudy day outside)
offwhite rug for background

exif:
Exposure Time 1.3s (13/10)
Aperture f/32.0
ISO 400
Focal Length 105mm (105mm 35mm)

Nice one - a christmas cactus flower.
The watermarking slightly spoils the appreciation though.

Nice one Leah, did a good job with your lighting thumb.gif

I agree with Brian... your watermark doesn't do it any justice.

Remember when your doing Macro you will notice any little bits of fluff or dirt really stand out, so cleaning up little blemishes is a must.

Thanks so much! This is only my second 'real' macro attempt and I've learned heaps since my first one, so the acknowledgement of my early efforts really means a lot.

The galleries watermark automatically -- I wish there was a way that the small and medium sized ones had no mark on them. Alas, I think I'll set up another gallery just for dgrin posts that'll be un-marked.

And yes - the Christmas Cactus suddenly decided April was a GREAT month to bloom. It's a bit erratic ;)eek7.gif

oh heck, I cheated and used natural diffuse light. But thank you! Indoor macros are easy since you eliminate wind and can take those longer shots without your object moving.

definitely updating for no-mark once I get home (no access at work)

cleaning in PP or before the shot? PP is one of those things I'm still learning so ... yeah. Soon! mwink.gif
