Hey everyone. I didn't see a general forum for a "Hi, I'm new" type thread. But since I plan on focusing on sports pics I figured this would be the board with posters to get to know.
I've spent a lot of time browsing some of the pics you guy have put up, and I really like the quality Dgrin users are pushing out.
I'm going from an amateur photog to an "entry level beginner". Spent most of the hockey season taking pictures on my Samsung Instinct (not quite as awesome for pics as the iPhone), but I took a good chunk of my tax return to pick up the Nikon D40.
Waiting to put some more $$ in my pocket before I start getting any non-kit lenses, but just putzing around today I know the kit glass isn't going to handle baseball season too well.
Living around Philly has few advantages, but with the over saturation of minor league baseball teams, two race tracks, some indoor football and a couple air shows I'll have plenty of opportunities to get quality trigger time.
To get this thread back on topic, this is one of the better results I got with the Instinct. As you can see, nobody will be winning any awards with it.

What did you focus on? I have a LG Dare and I was having issues until I finally figured out that I was not allowing the camera to actually focus. I found that I have to hold the Shutter button down for a few seconds (half way) just like a DSLR. I would then get this "green" box around my focus point and the pictures turned out way better.
