Excellent pictures! I especially like the very first one, with the star trails. Was that a single exposure, during which you "painted" the train? The final result is very captivating.

Thanks for your kind comments. The first shot is definitely my favorite. It is a combination of several exposures. The star trails were 5 minute exposures x3 I stacked. To shoot the train, I set up a purple gel in the cabin that fired once when the shutter opened. My friend and I then popped two other flashes (green and orange) at the front and side about three times during the rest of the 30 second exposure. I combined that shot with the sky containing star trails in post.

Thanks for the explanation. The end result is something else!
Thanks schmooster, much appreciated. I'm going to try and go back to that site in the next couple of weeks. in addition to a train there are several other abandoned machines.

C&C appreciated. The engine had a real spooky feel to it.

The trains look like they may be tipping over a touch from lens distortion, which can be fixed in Photoshop.
Otherwise, looks good.
