I'd try a blurred texture that complimented the birds color.
Reminded me of this shot I got at a zoo 3 years ago.
Now I'm going to have to do something with my background!

Gives it a 3D look with a drop shadow. I did this quick just to show what I meant...I think the BG is too contrasty for this bird...just an example.
