quick release adaptor

Hi, I retired this tripod for a better one from Manfrotto. I would like to put it to use as a stand for my 580EXII flash. I think what I need is an adaptor with a sliding plate on top for the flash and a screw hole on the bottom to screw the quick release plate which can then be placed on the tripod. I looked on Amazon with no luck, maybe I'm just not using the right terminology for my searches. If anyone can point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Chris

I just bought a Manfrotto monopod and a quick release head for it. I guess it's designed only for monopods???? But it gets you in the right ballpark.
Check out this page from Amazon. Surely one of these would work for you.

Actually when I look a bit closer, the second link is kind of what I was looking for, with a shoe mount on the top for the flash, but I need the bottom to have threads to screw in the quick release plate so I can mount on the tripod. The first link shows an item that follows this principle, but the reviews of it pretty much say it is a piece of junk. I've seen posts from time to time about people using old tripods as flash stands, and was just wondering what piece you are using to make things fit.
Thanks

The above link works if you cut and paste into your browser ............at least it did for me............
Plus go to your nearest ACE hardware store and get short 1/4-20 connector (tube with 1/4-20 threads inside) to screw your tripod into and slip into the flash/umbrella holder......the above adapter looks as if it is a simple COLD SHOE to fit most any flash that works remotely from camera.............
I use the umbrella brackets for a very lightweight application and it works OK. They will not last forever and so I have 3 brackets that I tend to use 2 at a time. It's fine for an occasional usage and allows for flash angle adjustment.
A quick release system could be attached but not necessarily needed. It can attach very quickly to a light stand and that's how I prefer to use it. I do use them on a short tripod sometimes to provide a background light.

The 2nd brackets actually have a brass post that, on either end, has small & large threaded holes for use on different tripods. The post then slides into the black plastic bracket, and secured by the set-screw on the side.

Use the plastic stand that came with the 580 and a quick release plate....manfrotto RC2.
